The Rei Jaume I Prizes have decided to update the name of the award previously known as ‘The Entrepreneur Prize’ and replace it with ‘The Entrepreneurial Revelation Prize’. This was confirmed by the Foundation’s president, Vicente Boluda, and its chief executive, Javier Quesada, at a press conference held at the Foundation’s headquarters.

In addition, the chief executive announced various events scheduled for the coming year, such as the presentation of the awards in Málaga, following a tour of seven Spanish cities: Zaragoza (in 2018), Madrid (2018), Bilbao (2019), Barcelona (2020), Seville (2022), Santiago (2023) and Pamplona (2024).
There was also discussion of the recent meeting of the members of the High Advisory Council (HAC) established by the Rei Jaume I Prizes, which comprises around 140 laureates since the Prizes were created. At this latest meeting, which was an extraordinary session convened in response to the cold snap, it was decided that the High Advisory Council (HAC) would submit a report to the President of the Generalitat by the end of January, containing a study on the storm and recommendations from all scientific ‘angles’ in the medium and long term to ensure that this disaster ‘does not happen again’. This is the “first step”, as the institution is “absolutely” open to addressing any requests entrusted to it by the Regional Government, Javier Quesada pointed out.
The High Advisory Council on Research, Development and Innovation of the Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana provides the Regional Government with advisory services that are unique in the world in all matters relating to R&D&I in the Comunitat Valenciana.
It has also been confirmed that the application period is now open, following a request from the jury panels themselves to bring forward the deadline so that they may have more time to assess each nomination. The period for receiving nominations of potential candidates therefore opened on 15 December and will close on 10 March.
Finally, it was noted that the Foundation is still due to hold the 2024 awards ceremony, which was postponed as a result of the storm and which, in accordance with the Royal Household’s commitment, will take place this coming spring of 2025.
