Jury rulingThe jury for the Rei Jaume I Prizes for Environmental Protection, meeting in Valencia, has unanimously decided to award the 2011 prize to Mr Sixto Malato Rodriguez.
This is in recognition of his scientific work on the use of solar energy for water treatment and decontamination, which has been successfully applied at the Almería Solar Platform and has potential applications worldwide.
He has produced highly significant publications on all aspects of the decontamination of water used for washing pesticides and non-biodegradable compounds, always utilising solar energy. He has an outstanding international scientific track record.
He is a magnificent example of a scientific researcher whose work has practical applications in Environmental Protection.
