Jury rulingThe jury for the Rei Jaume I Prize for Environmental Protection, meeting in Valencia, has unanimously decided to award the 2010 prize to Mr Jordi Bascompte Sacrest.
This is in recognition of his ability to find a way to address the essential aspects of ecology through collaborative research that facilitates a new approach to the study of interactions, forging a unique and novel path.
His clearly innovative work has been published in leading international journals and has been widely recognised by the scientific community specialising in ecology.
His two books summarise his discoveries in a simple and accessible manner. There is no doubt that he has pioneered a new way of understanding interactions in our environment, which will be of paramount importance to the future development of ecology.
