Jury ruling

The jury for the Rei Jaume I Prizes for Environmental Protection, meeting in Castellón, has unanimously decided to award the 2002 prize to Mr Rafael M. Jiménez Díaz.

This is in recognition of his work, which has contributed to the characterisation and understanding of pathogens affecting agricultural crops such as cotton, chickpeas and olive trees, thereby aiding the development of new resistant strains of these plants through techniques specifically designed to protect the environment.
