Jury ruling

The jury for the Rei Jaume I Prize for Clinical Medicine, meeting in Castellón, has unanimously decided to award the 2005 prize to Mr Felipe Casanueva Freijo.

This is in recognition of his significant contributions to original research programmes in the following fields: the regulation and action of growth hormone in the vitreous humour of diabetic patients, and the regulation of food intake, adipocyte function and, more generally, body weight homeostasis.

He has led a clinical and Basic Research group which has enabled the training of a large number of researchers and doctors who are currently carrying out scientific and clinical work in Spain and abroad.
