Jury rulingThe jury for the Rey Jaime I Economics Prize, meeting in Valencia, has unanimously decided to award the 2013 prize to Mr Xavier Vives Torrents.
He is recognised in particular for his significant contributions to our understanding of financial crises. He has been a leading figure in the Spanish academic community, serving, amongst other roles, as President of the Spanish Economic Association. He has also played a significant role as an adviser to the European Commission.
