Jury rulingThe jury for the Rey Jaime I Economics Prize, meeting in Alicante, has unanimously decided to award the 1997 prize to Mr Ramón Tamames Gómez.
This is in recognition of his empirical contribution to economics, as demonstrated in a series of works specifically devoted to research into the aforementioned subject, whether from a global perspective or in the form of analyses focusing on specific aspects.
Among his works in this field of research, it is worth highlighting his significant contributions, beginning with his doctoral thesis entitled ‘The Formation and Development of the European Common Market’, followed by various publications culminating in his book entitled ‘The European Union’.
Since his seminal work on the structures of the Spanish economy, he has consistently distinguished himself through his analysis of our economy and the challenges posed by its integration into an open market economy, with all its complexities.
