Jury ruling

The jury for the Rei Jaume I Economics Prize, meeting in Benicásim (Castellón), has unanimously decided to award the 1993 prize to Mr Enrique Fuentes Quintana.

For his research work, which began in 1949 and has focused particularly on the fields of public finance, international trade, the financial system and the Spanish economy.

Secondly, for his teaching work spanning almost half a century, one of the fruits of which has been his leadership of an exceptionally prestigious school of public finance specialists.

The third reason for this award has been his work in founding and editing major academic journals and book series, all within the field of economics.

Furthermore, for having played a significant role at key moments in the Spanish economy, applying economic analysis to the decision-making process on matters of great importance to Spain.
