Jury ruling

The jury for the Rei Jaume I Economics Prize, meeting in Vila-real (Castellón), has unanimously decided to award the 1999 prize to Mr Jaime Lamo de Espinosa y Michels de Champurcin.

For his contribution to agricultural economics in its theoretical, political and business aspects.

His contributions have helped to ensure the successful alignment of Spanish agricultural policy with that of the European Union and, in particular, the sustainable development of Spanish agriculture.

He is currently working on the impact of Agenda 2000 on the Spanish economy.
