Jury rulingThe jury for the Rei Jaume I New Technologies Prize, meeting in Valencia, has unanimously decided to award the 2014 prize to Mr Javier García Martínez.
They highlighted his pioneering work in the field of mesoporous zeolites, used in petroleum processing, in which he has succeeded in increasing the pore size in such a way as to enable the production of petrol in current catalysts. The catalysts manufactured by this company (based in Boston) have improved the production of liquid fuels, thereby increasing the profits per barrel produced.
