Juan José Dolado
Economics 2015He completed his doctoral thesis at the University of Oxford. He has served as co-editor of the academic journals *Econometric Theory*, *European Economic Review* and *Labour Economics*. He has published 10 books and around 100 articles, many of which have appeared in prestigious international journals. His articles have also been published in newspapers such as The Guardian, El País and Expansión.
He is one of the founders of the well-known economists’ blog VoxEU (the CEPR website), as well as a member of the Scientific Committee of Fedea, Spain’s most influential think tank in this field. His main areas of specialisation are Labour Economics and Theoretical Econometrics (Time Series). His work in these areas, focusing on the analysis of dual labour markets, the causes of persistent unemployment, gender differences, cointegration, long-memory processes, evidence of structural breaks and dynamic factor models, has been widely cited.
The jury for the Rei Jaume I Prize in Economics has decided to award the 2015 Prize to Dr JUAN JOSE DOLADO LOBREGAD for his contributions in two different areas of economics. Firstly, for his work on cointegration methodology and other time-series econometric techniques that study the evolution of economic variables over time. Secondly, for his significant contributions to the study of the labour market, particularly duality and its effects on labour market dynamics and unemployment. His work in both areas ranges from pure econometrics to applied research on economic policy proposals in Spain and the rest of Europe.
