Jury ruling

The jury for the Rei Jaume I Prize for Basic Research, meeting in Vila-real (Castellón), has unanimously decided to award the 1999 prize to Mr Luis Oro Giral.

This is in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of organic chemistry, particularly his work on homogeneous catalysis using metal complexes and the discovery of new types of polynuclear complexes. He has played a decisive role in the revival of Spanish chemistry on the international stage.
