PhD in Economics, London School of Economics; CEMFI (Centre for Monetary and Financial Studies).

He has been a leading figure in Spanish, European and international economic associations, holding positions such as President of the Spanish Economic Association, President-elect of the European Economic Association and the new President of the Econometric Society.

Jury ruling

The jury for the Rei Jaume I Prize in Economics, meeting in Valencia, has unanimously decided to award the 2012 prize to Mr Manuel Arellano González.

For his highly significant contributions to econometrics and, in particular, to the development of methods for analysing panel data. He has also made significant empirical contributions to labour economics and behavioural economics relating to households.
