Prize Winners

(Madrid, age 71) She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and is the founder and director of the Smart Biomaterials Research Group at the Complutense University of Madrid, which is part of the Biomedical Research Network Center for Bioengineering, Biomaterials, and Nanomedicine (CIBER BBN) and the Health Research Institute at the 12 de Octubre Hospital. Prof. Vallet holds an ERC Advanced Grant to work on multipurpose mesoporous nanosystems for bone diseases. She has led more than 100 research projects in R&D and scientific networks. She is a pioneer in Spain in the field of biomaterials education.

The jury of the Rei Jaume I Prize in Basic Research has unanimously decided to award MARÍA VALLET REGÍ for her pioneering work in the field of mesoporous ceramic materials with biomedical applications, particularly in bone tissue regeneration.
