Jury ruling

The jury for the Rei Jaume I Prize for Environmental Protection, meeting in Altea (Alicante), has unanimously decided to award the 2000 prize to Mr Ramón Martín Mateo.

This is in recognition of his pioneering contributions to the development of environmental law in Spain, having approached scientific and technological progress in a rational and balanced manner from a position of great intellectual calibre and academic rigour. His outstanding work has had a major impact both nationally and internationally and has led to numerous legal initiatives for Environmental Protection, particularly in the Ibero-American region.
