Jury rulingThe jury for the Rei Jaume I Prizes for Environmental Protection, meeting in Valencia, has unanimously decided to award the 2001 prize to Mr Víctor de Lorenzo Prieto.
This is in recognition of his work and contributions towards a better understanding of the genetic expression and physiology of soil bacteria capable of detecting and degrading toxic substances. This research holds great potential for the application of bacteria in soil regeneration.
