Premio Nobel de Economía 2021 Economía 2025Guido Wilhelmus Imbens (Geldrop, September 3, 1963) is a Dutch-United States economist. In 2021, he received the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences "for his methodological contributions to the analysis of causal relationships", together with Joshua Angrist and David Card, who received the other half of the award. He has been a professor of economics at the Stanford Graduate School of Business since 2012.
Born on September 3, 1963 in Geldrop, Netherlands In 1975 his family moved to Deurne, where he attended Peelland College. As a child, Imbens was an avid chess player. He graduated from the Erasmus University RotterdamIn 1983, he received the Nobel Prize, according to the Swedish Academy, because: "The laureates have provided us with new insights into the work market and shown what conclusions about cause and effect can be drawn from natural experiments. His approach has been extended to other fields and revolutionized empirical research."
